Sheila FitzGerald

Sheila FitzGerald began supporting IFAW because she liked our humble beginnings - a group of like-minded people coming together to protest the seal hunt in Canada. She finds some groups are just too radical and liked that we respond to animals in crisis and help solve problems.

While she is most interested in seals and whales, she loves all animals. "I can't say there's an animal I don't care about," she said. Indeed, Sheila has generously helped IFAW relocate elephants back to the wild in India, spread the word about dogs needing homes in Cozumel, and even held a very successful fundraising event for IFAW at her restaurant, The Old Yarmouth Inn, in Massachusetts.

Sheila wants her legacy to be one of humanity and compassion. "People need to understand our connection to animals. I have two grandchildren and I can't imagine they will grow up in a world where lions, tigers and elephants don't exist," she said. "If I can help when animals need to be saved, or rescued in disasters, then my little bit will go a long way."

Thank you, Sheila, for your generosity and support.
